Benidorm – Costa Blanca

So I wanted to start sharing some travel experiences that I have had.  I love travel and everything to do with it so I thought I would start off with a slightly controversial holiday which people seem to love or hate!

Benidorm Costa Blanca, Spain – trip in Dec/Jan 2025

To see the new year in with a little sunshine, we decided to travel to Benidorm old town with all the family.  9 of us in a lovely apartment overlooking the Poniente Beach.  Our balcony was a sun trap and could people watch for hours with everyone walking, running, scootering and skating down the long promenade.

We enjoyed days on the beach, as well as trips to Altea and Guadalest which both were amazing and totally different to Benidorm itself.

As a couple we have been to Benidorm a handful of times with both family and friends but usually in the summer season which was great but a bit mayhem.  You can find anything you like in Benidorm and although it has a really bad name, there are some amazing places to visit there and you can enjoy anything you could ever imagine there!  Old Town is amazing and full of Spanish people enjoying their getaways.  Food is amazing and prices are still very good compared to lots of places.  The promenade is fantastic both on Poniente beach and Levante beach.  You could walk up and down and people watch for hours.

New year celebrations were amazing on the Levante beach.  You just take your own Cava and 12 grapes to swallow with each chime to bring you good luck.  Fireworks over the sea finished off the celebrations.  Live music was really good too and all the Spanish spoke to us too and involved us in celebrating the new year.

We walked up to view points in Benidorm, something we haven’t done before in the main season as just too hot.  It looks more amazing the higher you climb!

We went to visit Gudalist on a bus which cost next to nothing and it was the most amazing few hours.  The views were out of this world in the mountains!  We went round the Castel too which was very interesting.

Another trip we did on our last evening was to Altea a nearby town.  Totally different than Benidorm!  We got a taxi there and when we got dropped off we thought, well this is a dump!  But walked down to the beach which was lovely with lots of nice high class restaurants offering amazing Spanish food.  We walked up to the main town where the famous church was.  So many steps but the views on the way up were amazing and the little streets up there were just stunning!  We absolutely loved it there and the church was amazing too.  Would definitely recommend anyone coming to the area to take a visit here.

So Benidorm, love it or hate it, I would honestly say has something for everyone.
